Let's go on a Bike Ride

I have this poster framed and hanging up in my laundry room. The colors are so much richer in person. Everyday I look at it and want to be there instead of doing laundry. Some day I will be, but for now I imagine visiting this street. I imagine the first building is an Antique/Flea Market/Boutique with the most amazing European finds.

I found this at a flea market in the real world. I can picture this bike on that narrow passage. I am not too big on the brass, but I love the little wooden seat. Of course, a make over was needed. I gave it a little color change. I think it will go nicely with my print. I thought about staining the wood, but I like the dark and light contrast.
I have never been a bicycle person, but since I bought this they have been popping up in my eye sight everywhere. I now have quite a little collection. I will save it for another post. I am working on something else for my laundry room. I will have to post about that tomorrow when it is finished.

Take Me Somewhere

A few weeks ago I visited home. My Mom, Grandma, and I visited a few flea markets. I found these prints. They are new, but I was in love with the rich colors and beautiful scenery. I snatched them both for $1.00.

My next venture was finding frames for these prints. I used something I already had.

These were in a white frame. I had already started tearing them apart when I realized I had not taken a photo yet. That is so me, do first think later. I have had these prints for about ten years. They were a pain to take apart. They were held in with about twenty staples each. After pulling most of those out I realized the matting was glued to the picture. Eventually I broke these frames free.
I primed and painted these my new favorite color.... black.
I washed the glass and decided to use the existing mats after all.
I like how they turned out. I love pictures that take me somewhere. I may switch out the mats for a different color or brown them a bit. I don't like the white with the white. Since I am renting I am not going to paint the walls.
I really should be unpacking, but I get caught up in all my little projects. After all they are way more fun!

My Favorite Thrifty Find

Well, I figure for my first real post I would participate in a Party. My favorite thrifty find was FREE! I was able to score this baker's rack from someone who was finished with their yard sale and wanting to throw everything that didn't sale out with the trash. I am not sure the price she had on it, but to me it was a great find.

I love that it is bigger than most I have seen. I kept it green for a long while. I didn't have a perfect spot for it, so for about the past two years it has spent a lot of time in storage. I recently moved and found a place for it. I really was not into green anymore and it was a little (okay a lot) worn, so I gave it a little make over.

I painted it black. This is my temporary decor thrown on it until I unpack more of my accessories. Then it will get the royal treatment. It is a focal point in my kitchen. I have to add, the pair of black candle stick holders were a great find for 75 cents. They are favorite because they look great no matter where I place them.

I sanded and restained the wood and I really like how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by!

We're Home

We had the best time. I think I need a vacation from my vacation. We have stuff to unpack and then I have a home to put together. I am not in any rush though. I have all winter to decorate. I would rather enjoy the rest of Summer and my favorite season Fall. Of course a new blog design was in order. I will post some of our adventures when I find a few spare moments. I hope everyone enjoyed July. Sheesh, where does the time go!
