The Long and Short of It

I have been debating cutting Sloane's gorgeous hair for a while. It always looks great styled. She has thick but very fine hair. It gets knotted up pretty easily. The last year has been such a battle to get it brushed everyday. Especially right out of the bath. I finally decided on a whim, at the grocery store, NO MORE TEARS!

She was quite happy with the decision as well.

Here is the before. (sniff, sniff)

And...the after. She is not standing straight in this picture so it is a little deceiving, but we cut off about 8 inches. I have to say mornings and bath times have been so much easier. We are both happy with it. Daddy, however, is not. What do boys know about hair anyway?!?

Where have I been!?!

It seems that since school has started, we are always on the go. My days start early and I spend all morning getting everyone ready and fed. We have a couple drop offs and pick ups. Emie and I run errands and barely finish in time to pick everyone up. We come home for lunch and naps for all four of us. Seriously, I am feeling exhausted all the time. The evenings seemed to be filled with things we need to get done around the house and meetings.

Last weekend we attended the funeral for Jeremy's Grandpa. We love him. He will be missed greatly.

We celebrated Emie's Birthday (again) with Jeremy's family. It has probably been her fourth party. No wonder when people ask her how old she is, she says she is four.

We got home late Sunday night or should I say early Monday morning. I was so tired I forgot to pick Micah up from school. Luckily they just served her lunch. Man, I felt bad about that. Monday night was FHE.

Tuesday both girls had school. That night I had to go to a 2 hour PTI (parent teacher involvement) meeting at Micah's school. It was all about this year's fundraisers. Anyone want to buy some chocolate!?!

Wednesday I had Cub Scouts and we had our weekly adjustments at Jeremy's work. Did I mention I am now the assistant Wolf Den Mother? All I can say is WOW! Eight year old boys are high energy.

Both girls had school again today. Jeremy and I finally cleaned out the office. It had become the 'I don't now what to do with this box' room. Now everything has a place and a place for everything. Excluding the garage. (A project for another day!)I also had Scout leader training for THREE straight hours. Good news is I earned my first badge. TRAINED.

Friday, well it is already time to get some yard work done. Our car could really use some cleaning out and washing. The birdcage could handle some TLC.

Saturday is SUPER Saturday. A day of projects, all to myself. Well and my company of lovely ladies. I then get to come home and do the 8 loads of laundry waiting patiently for me.

Sunday I have been asked to assist in Emie's nursery. All I can say is I am thankful for a day of rest and spiritual uplifting.

Monday is preparation day, Sloane's Joy School is at my house all week.

I have to include these pictures of my gorgeous niece. My sister Corrine took them. I know Brittany would love to post them but she does not know how to download pictures to her blog. I will show her one of these days.

She has grown up to be so beautiful. I really miss her and looking at these pictures makes me want to snuggle that sweet girl.

She looks so much like her beautiful Momma.

Anyway, I thought Corrine did a really great job.

Did I mention two weekends ago my sister Corrine was in town? She watched my kids while Jeremy and I went to Time Out for Couples. Then she and I attended Time Out for Women and Girls. Both were wonderful and full of inspiration.

Her highlight...we got to meet the nicest man on earth...Brad Wilcox. From what I saw and heard from him, and what I have heard from other people, his c.d.'s are great!!

Could this post be any longer???? Don't even get me started on next week!

The Biggest Offender

The Nester is having a P.O.O.P.I.E Party . People Opposing Objectionable Pretend Plants in the Environment. I am afraid that I am the biggest offender. If you need to read more about it go HERE .
As you can see from these pictures, I use fake plants everywhere.
Every nook and cranny.
On top of the shelf, I guess a big no, no!
I just love a bit of greenery here and there.

It must be an addiction of sorts.
Are dried things just as bad? I have a few of those too.
Greenery on the cupboards again, all FAKE.
These were in my wedding bouquet. Fake, Fake, Fake. I know these are not as objectionable as a few I have seen, but they are all fake none the less. I have no shame, I love everything I posted and it all stays.

A Bit More Fall...

I put up a few more of my fall-ish things. I have a lot of it, but every time I go shopping I am so tempted to buy more. I see the greatest Fall Decor everywhere.

This corner shelf is from my Great Aunt. I keep debating painting it, but like this it reminds me of going to her house years ago. I also love my pumpkin angels. My Mom bought them for me on my first married Halloween.

This is my take on Susie Harris' super cute project. I just loved it when I saw it and knew I would have to have one too!

Around here Goodwill is not the best thrift store (most people donate to local charity thrift stores), but I occasionally find some goodies.
I found this white platter with a gun metal silver holder for $3.99. I liked it but of course not as is.
A bit of shiny black spray paint and some holiday accents and I LOVE it. I have a hard time deciding where to put it. It looks great everywhere.

Emie is going to "Potty Preschool"

When I told Emerson I wanted to take her picture, she ran to the same wall where I took the girls first day of school pictures. She cracks me up!

I have decided that she needs to get the potty training pep talk. She is just barely turned two, but she has been telling me to change her. I know she understands a lot and may actually train before the other two girls did.

She loves making monster fingers.

Raaaaaarrrhhhh!!!

Micah's first day at Pre-K

Micah is attending a pre-k class this year. She goes every morning just like the Kindergartners do. She has been so excited to go. Today was her first day with Miss Tiffany. She loved it. Her teacher has some encouragement tools that I think will be helpful even at home.

I dropped her off bright and early. She found her backpack hook and desk all by herself. If there is one word she can read, it is her name. I helped her get situated and asked her if she wanted me to stay for a bit or go. She said, "Please Go Now!" Wow, at least Emie still needs me.

My last thought is...I thought I would be so excited to have both girls in preschool. I guess I forgot I would have to be the one up bright and early getting them ready and taking them there. What was I thinking!?!

Sloane's First Day of PreSchool

Today was Sloanie's first day at preschool. She kept acting nonchalant and uninterested in going. I even had to turn off her morning show three times before she finally would get up and let me take her picture.

By the end of our "photo shoot" she was smiling and ready to go.

When we got there she just sat down and got ready to play. There was no goodbye wave or one last glance for reassurance (from her). I was a little sad she was so independent, but I knew she would be fine.

When I picked her up, she had the biggest smile. All she did on the way home was tell me how much she LOVED it! One girl down and one more to go.

Another big accomplishment for Sloane was putting together a 70 piece puzzle all by herself. She has always loved puzzles. In the picture you can tell she is proud of herself, and we are so proud of her.

Fall!

Melissa at the The Inspired Room is hosting Welcome To Fall Nesting Week.

Fall is my favorite time of year. I have started putting out a few things and I thought I would share them.

I bought a few of these tiny Halloween pumpkins last year. I love them because when October is over, I just turn them around and use them for November.


I have three little ones, so a lot of my decor is kid friendly. They have to be able to touch something.



This is my favorite display. I bought it a few years at ago 90% off. I am glad it was on sale when I saw it because I probably would have paid full price for it. Seriously, my unskilled photography does not do it justice.



My little secret...the pumpkin picture at the top of my post is really a fabric place mat. I saw it at Big Lots for $3.oo. I looked for more but they only had one. I loved it so I bought it and thought I could probably frame it. It is an odd shape and did not fit any of the frames I had. I came up with my own solution. Tack it to the frame, so here is the back of my "picture."
