Labor Day Weekend

We decided to take the kids camping. We loaded up all our gear and headed North.

The lake was beautiful. The weather was perfect. The company was great.

Here are the girls relaxing after all their help putting up our tent.
We played games.
Took drink breaks.
Roasted hot dogs.

Yep, that is me cooking the rest.

After a long day, those were the best hot dogs ever.
Later we made s'mores. Micah was such a big helper. I am so lucky to have her.
The girls each had a few. They were Yummy if I do say so myself.
The neighboring family was from Russia. They had little girls and our daughters had so much fun playing with them. It is amazing how kids just make friends with anyone.

Sloane was quite the tree climber.
Smokey Bear came for a visit and the girls learned about preventing forest fires.

The girls were jumping off rocks into the icy water. They were so brave.
Emie, loved sitting in the raft out of water. We could not get her to put on the life vest.
We made sand castles. Here is Sloane's Spider.
Camping is a great way to slow down time for a bit. Our family enjoyed every minute of it, together.

Pre-School Orientation

Micah went to meet her new teacher and see her new classroom. She was so excited! She has been waiting all Summer for this. Ummm...me too!

My sweet girl is growing up.

She is the best helper, her teacher is very lucky to have this little girl in her class. She will go every morning. We are sure going to miss her at home. Especially Sloane, they are hardly ever separated. Sloane does not have any reason to worry, she will be starting preschool too. Sloane will only attend every Tues and Thurs morning. They both start the day after Labor Day.

My Little Plant Stand

I found this little plant stand at a thrift store the other day. I liked it's unique shape and versatility.

I knew she needed a little work. I decided to go with a new spray paint color. I am after all thinking "outside the black box."

I looked for a satin finish, those glossy ones are a bit too glossy for my taste. I decided on red and searched for the perfect, in my mind, color.

I was really hoping the color would come out the color on the lid.

The word "wine" should have given me my first clue it probably wouldn't. When I saw all this pink, I got a little bit nervous. After letting the color "settle" for a few days, it became this deep red color. I really like it.

I am considering sanding the edges and staining on top of the color, but I am liking it the way it is right now.
My little girl said, "Mommy, you bought that because it is an S just like in my name!" Every time I look at it now, I think of her.

Playing Catch Up!

The month of August has been busy, and has flown by. Micah and Sloane had swim lessons every Thurs and Tues morning.

We drove to Twin Falls to attend the Temple open house. It was beautiful!

My girls were so excited. They remember attending the Rexburg Temple open house. Once Sloane realized she could see herself in the Eternity Mirrors, she started hamming it up. It was great to go as a family.

My Emie went from this.....

to this.....
to this!
We celebrated her turning two with Aunt Corri and Uncle Kristofer.

The girls loved those yummy cuppy cakes.

We drove over to the Shoshone Falls. They were beautiful and we ran into some friends of ours. Micah was so excited to see her friend Isabella. We have missed their family bunches since we moved. Well, I guess we are not that far away. We need to make better efforts to keep in touch.
My Sister and her Hubby.
We attended a little festival. The weather was perfect and the girls had fun. Here they are watching the puppet show. It was put on by another religion, so they kept having a confused look on their faces when they heard the songs.
Sloane was so excited to get branded. After her first rub on tattoo she kept asking for more.

Ice cream is always a big hit.

Emie loved her little bug balloon. She wore it ALL day long. One of my happy girls.
There was a guy who had a snake and Sloane loved it! She kept petting it, kissing it, and letting it "smell" or lick her. This guy was so impressed with her enthusiasm he let her hold it. Every hair on my body was on end. I do NOT care for snakes.

Here is Sloane our little Snake Charmer.
It was a lot to catch up on, but next week school starts so I want to feel the relief of starting clean. No more I should blog this soon. It is done!

More Bikes

Remember this post HERE.
Well here are her sister bikes. I picked up at several different Flea Markets. The plant holder was a gift from my Grandma. She loves bikes as well. When she heard I was starting a new collection for my laundry room, she plucked this one up, right out of her house and gave it to me. It is one of my favorites.

I am thinking of painting that dowel rod black. It can easily be replaced with a new one if necessary.

I like this little tricycle. I have little girls, so this is in honor of them. I really think this room would look great with color, but I promised my husband that I would not paint in this rental house.

Do you ever feel like this......or this!

These are perfect for my laundry room. With three kids, a hubby, two birds and two cats, I am never caught up on laundry. Ugh...such is life.

Painting Outside the Black Box

Joy at Joys of Home is having a Paint Party.
I thought I would participate. I have a hard time "painting outside the black box." I have had a project in mind for a while for my daughter's room. I wanted to buy some vinyl decal butterflies. She loves butterflies!
But...one day at a garage sale I found these.

I remember these on everyone's walls as a kid. These wooden decals were everywhere, including my home. I snatched up six for $1. My only dilemma was choosing a color. My daughter loves pink, me not so much. Once I spotted this Watermelon color, I knew it would be the perfect compromise.

I loved how they turned out. The are the perfect decal I was looking for, at a much better price including the spray paint.

Now hop on over to Joy's and enjoy everyone's colorful projects.
